As the founder of Fiiri, a creative agency for people of color and as the former diversity and inclusion editor at Vogue Scandinavia, our friend Mona is making great strides in Stockholm. We were lucky enough to hang out for a day and have her style our latest denim fits.

PATCH-POCKET DENIM SHORTS
“These shorts were so flattering, especially with that high waist. A striped tank and sandals round out the look which gives off an effortless French Riviera vibe.”
LET’S TALK
FEATURING MONA M. ALI
Describe your style in three words.
Comfortable, colorful and ’70s-inspired
Tell us about your favorite pair of jeans ever.
They were vintage and pretty perfect. I wore them so much, they were like a second skin.
If you could design your dream pair, what would it look like?
I’m very into straight or wide-leg jeans with a high, high waist. They need to fit just-right around the bum and thighs, being a bit looser in the legs.
What inspired you to start your own agency?
I used to model in London, but I never signed with an agency because I wasn’t tall enough, or young enough, or they already had a Black girl who looks similar. When I moved to Stockholm I wanted to create a platform for underrepresented models. I’m glad to be seeing more representation in the industry and putting money back into the community.
If you could keep one thing from the shoot, what would it be?
Oh, definitely the shorts. They were so cute and go with almost everything.

SUPERWIDE-LEG JEANS
“I tried to do something a little unexpected here and this outfit is sort of like business up top and casual on the bottom.”

SUPERWIDE-LEG JEANS
“I love wearing a pair like this because they elongate my legs. I always balance the shape by wearing a more fitted top.”
